The CHATEAU de Roquebrune is a family property for over 5 generations, the first plots were bought before 1880.
The CHATEAU de Roquebrune is located in Lalande de Pomerol, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation, on the north side of the Barbanne small river that separates the two names, and that once served as the border between the countries of Oc and Oil. Our vineyards are located directly across from those of the Château de Sales in Pomerol. The first winery was in the Billaux. (see photo at left). The winery was behind the car. The vines in the background. The team was adjacent to the winery. The tanks were made of wood. The cages of the press were wooden with a large steel screw in the center. The pressure was applied by a human hand using a long steel rod and a ratchet system. My great-great back and grandparents practiced mixed farming and cattle breeding, until frost of 1954.
It is a charming wine with an intense nose of ripe red fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) and humus, The palate is lively and the tannins are soft, silky and delicate, both powerful and purposes. A nice wine combining roundness and structure, where elegance prevails.
