    History: This is the 17th century that Father BRETON, clergy Fontevraud, steward of Cardinal Richelieu, became Guyenne address on the occasion of the transformation of Richelieu vineyard meadow, several thousand plants Cabernet franc. Thus the Bordeaux grape was established in Saumur, recognized as the "Plant of the Breton Abbot". By 1900, the father Cristal, winemaker at Château du Parnay, near the town of Champigny, defending and perfecting its vineyard and that of Saumur at the same time made known and enjoy these wines that would become the famous "Saumur Champigny ".
    The vineyard: The vineyard entitling the Saumur Champigny appellation extends southeast of Saumur on the nine following communes: Souzay-Champigny, Chacé, Dampierre, Montsoreau, Parnay, St Cyr en Bourg, Turquant, and Varrains Saumur. It is harvested an average of 45 000 hectoliters of Saumur Champigny 900 hectares. The presence of a chalky soil, called "tufa" is the essential characteristic of this appellation.
    Grape varieties: The Saumur Champigny is derived mainly Cabernet Franc grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and / or Pineau d'Aunis, without restriction of use of either of these varieties. Cabernet Franc remains the most used.

Harvested in the municipality of Varrains; it is distinguished by its very floral aroma, reminiscent of raspberry. The wines are then aged in very modern facilities, in order to avoid harmful oxidation to the high quality of this wine.
    Serving suggestions: Marketed in part in their youth, Saumur Champigny can be drunk young, but aging gracefully.
